Introductory Piano Student Outcomes:

This stage is expected to take 2-3 months, depending on the student's effort.

Familiarity with the Piano Keyboard:

Students will be able to identify and name the white and black keys on the piano.

They will understand the concept of octaves and recognize the pattern of keys on the keyboard.

Basic Hand Position and Posture:

Students will learn the correct hand position and posture for playing the piano.

They will be able to demonstrate proper finger placement and wrist alignment.

Understanding of Basic Musical Notation:

Students will recognize and understand basic musical symbols such as notes, rests, and clefs.

They will begin to read simple music notation and understand the concept of pitch and rhythm.

Playing Simple Melodies:

Students will learn to play simple melodies using one hand.

They will practice coordinating their finger movements with the notes on the page.

Introduction to Rhythm and Timing:

Students will understand the basics of rhythm and learn to play simple rhythmic patterns.

They will start practicing with a metronome to develop a sense of timing.

Exploration of Basic Dynamics:

Students will be introduced to the concept of dynamics in music, learning about loud and soft sounds.

They will experiment with playing notes at different volume levels.

Development of Listening Skills:

Students will engage in listening exercises to distinguish different pitches and rhythms.
